Detailing At Altitude

Your paint has a harder job here than it does anywhere else.

At 7,000 feet, UV intensity is significantly higher than at sea level, and Park City's paint takes that exposure nearly year-round — through bluebird summer days and low-angle winter sun bouncing off snow. Add in magnesium chloride de-icer on the roads all winter, granite dust and pine sap through the summer, and the temperature swings of a mountain climate, and you've got a finish that oxidizes, etches, and dulls faster than it would in a mild coastal city.

That's the problem I built this business to solve. I'm a certified detailing professional and accredited System X installer, working exclusively in paint correction and ceramic coatings — not a general wash-and-wax shop. Every vehicle gets machine-corrected and protected to the same standard I'd want on my own, with Carfax-documented proof of the work behind it.

Paint Correction

What paint correction actually is

Paint correction is the machine-polishing process that removes swirl marks, oxidation, water spots, and fine scratches sitting in your clear coat. Using dual-action and rotary polishers with graduated compounds, I level the clear coat in controlled stages until the paint reflects light the way it did on the day it left the factory floor — before anything goes on top of it.

One-Step

A single polishing pass that removes the majority of light swirl marks, minor oxidation, and haze, and lays down a strong, glossy finish. This is the right call for a well-maintained daily driver that needs to look sharp again.

Two-Step

A compounding stage followed by a finishing polish, correcting deeper swirls, heavier oxidation, and most visible imperfections for a near flawless, high-gloss result. This is the level of correction required before Diamond-tier ceramic coating, and the standard I'd recommend for any vehicle getting a long-term ceramic package.

Ceramic Coating

What ceramic coating actually is

Ceramic coating is a liquid polymer — I install System X's SiO2 nano-ceramic formula — that chemically bonds to your clear coat and cures into a hard, glossy, hydrophobic layer. Unlike wax or spray sealant, which sit on top of the paint and break down within weeks, a ceramic coating becomes part of the surface chemistry of the clear coat itself, so it doesn't wash off and doesn't need reapplying every season.

Why get it

Beyond the deep, wet-look gloss, a ceramic coating is functional protection built for exactly the conditions Park City throws at a car.

  • UV & oxidation resistance — shields your clear coat from the intense high-elevation sun that fades and dulls unprotected paint.
  • Chemical resistance — stands up to winter road salt and magnesium chloride de-icer that etch and stain bare paint.
  • Hydrophobic surface — water, mud, and grime sheet off instead of bonding to the paint, so washes are faster and less abrasive.
  • Resale value — every coating is Carfax registered, giving future buyers documented proof of protection and care.
  • Less maintenance, more gloss — no more monthly waxing to hold a finish; the coating keeps working every day it's on the car.

The Process

How every vehicle is handled, start to finish

Consultation & Paint Inspection

We talk through your goals and I inspect the paint under raking light to identify swirl depth, oxidation, and the right correction level before any work begins.

Decontamination Wash

A full chemical decontamination and clay treatment strips embedded contaminants, road grime, and iron particles the wash mitt can't reach.

Paint Correction

One- or two-step machine polishing levels the clear coat, removing swirls and oxidation and building the gloss the finish is capable of.

Panel Wipe & Ceramic Application

Every panel is wiped down to bare, oil-free clear coat, then the System X ceramic coating is hand-applied and leveled panel by panel.

Cure & Final Walkthrough

I walk you through cure-time care, then hand back a vehicle with a documented, Carfax-registered coating on record.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

What ceramic coating do you use?+
I use System X ceramic coatings, one of the most trusted names in professional coating technology. System X is made in the USA, Boeing & Bombardier spec-approved, and an official Carfax partner — a professional-grade product, not an off-brand alternative.
Does the coating come with a warranty?+
Yes. Every coating package carries a written warranty matched to its protection level, and the Diamond and Obsidian packages come with a lifetime warranty on both automobiles and motorcycles.
What is the cure time?+
Initial cure is about 4 hours, and full cure is 3 days. I'll walk you through exactly what to avoid during that window — water, rain exposure, and heavy driving — so the coating bonds perfectly.
Is the service registered with Carfax?+
Yes. Every coating service through Park City Paint Correction & Ceramic Coatings is Carfax registered — documented proof of protection that adds to your vehicle's resale value.
Does ceramic coating protect against UV damage?+
Absolutely. System X provides full UV protection against paint fading, oxidation, and color degradation from sun exposure — especially important here in Park City, where elevation and intense sun push UV exposure well above sea-level averages.
Do I need to do anything to prep my car before the appointment?+
No — that's on me. I handle the full wash, decontamination, and surface prep before any correction or coating work begins.
Are you certified?+
Yes — I'm a certified detailing professional and an accredited System X installer, which is required to back the warranty on every coating package.
How do I take care of my car after coating?+
Stick to pH-neutral soap, avoid automatic tunnel washes with abrasive brushes, and give the coating its full 3-day cure before the first wash. Beyond that, the coating is built to make maintenance easier, not more demanding.
